Friday Discussion on Economic Growth of India

Friday Discussion is a program designed to engage and inform the core members on the ideas of free market economy and classical liberal ideas. Discussions are made on the contemporary issues (local or national) through free market perspective. Article is selected and shared within the members to prepare oneself for the program. The program is organized at the venue of Hotel Namaskar, Biratnagar on every alternative Friday (twice a month).
On this series, discussion was made on the Article “Economic Growth of India”, where 8 numbers of participants took part to discuss their views. It was hot and live discussion where participants discussed on how reforms in India made an impact in the economic growth of India.

In the Article the writer argues that with the Liberalization in economy how revolutionary growth occurred in India and is moving in the development of economic prosperity. During the discussion different member of the groups had differing views about the arguments presented in the essay.

As we all know political freedom is not enough for the development of any country. In order to grasp the prosperity economic freedom plays pivotal role for the growth and prosperity of any country. After independence India followed a socialist pattern of development, which didn’t help to uplift the economy. So After the liberalization of it economy India is moving toward the economic development. It was hot and live discussion regarding the topic. During discussion some of the members expressing dissent over the Article argued that the role of the government is very much important for the economic growth of country. It was somehow clear for us that what should be the role of government. Finally the concluded by there is need for an hour for economic freedom by opening up the market.
The program was helpful to arouse many questions and good discussion. It was held on April 2015, 4.30 pm and program was ended at 5:30pm.
